Michele has been a nurse at Bronxcare for
five years. New York City is the epicenter of the COVID-19 crisis in the U.S. Things she has witnessed as one of many frontline healthcare workers: 11,000 patients in what resembled a war zone in the first three weeks; people being intubated at alarming rates; multiple deaths every shift; isolation. She could not see family or friends; she wore N-95 masks for 12 hours at a time; she contracted the virus herself. She has fully recovered. With all that is happening, let’s not forget those who risk their lives for a healthy nation, free from this devastating pandemic.
